Wilshere tells Wenger: ‘I’m ready to play this weekend against Norwich’

by David on October 18, 2012

Jack Wilshere is reported to have told Arsene Wenger that he is ready to end his 15 month injury nightmare.

Wilshere played 90 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday. It was Wilshere’s third match this month after two outings for the club’s Under 21 side and the England international is now convinced he is ready to make his long-awaited return to the Arsenal first-team set up.

Wilshere, who has suffered from a string of ankle, foot and knee problems, has told Wenger he can make his comeback in the weekend visit to Norwich.

Wenger and the Arsenal medical staff have been ultra cautious with Wilshere’s comeback, so playing at Norwich seems like a reach. But I expect him to be in the squad this weekend, and potentially on the bench.

In more good news, Bacary Sagna also played 90 minutes in yesterday’s 2-0 defeat after his five month spell on the sidelines with a broken leg. Interestingly, Sagna played the first half at right-back and the second half at center-half.

have waited for 17 months, can easily wait for another week or two so as not to rush him back! It’s a looong season..

Norwich???? I don`t think so….maybe last ten minutes. I think Wenger will want him at home near the medical staff for his reintroduction. Q.P.R. seems the likely time.

Good news to see Sagna and Wilshere played 90min,but it’s sad to see us losing the game,it shows that the duo isn’t fully fit. They need more playing time to recover.
I’m pleased to see them back in action.

One does not simply tell Wenger you are ready to play against Norwich.
