Wenger Set For New 2-Year Arsenal Deal

by David on February 18, 2013

According to Phil Thomas in The Sun Arsenal are preparing to offer Arsene Wenger a two-year contract extension.

Arsenal’s trophy drought has put Wenger under a lot of pressure, but the Arsenal manager  has hinted he wants to stay to reach two decades in the job, ending all talk he will go when his deal runs out in June 2014.

Wenger’s future has been in doubt after eight trophy-less seasons and last autumn he knocked back an informal approach from the club to arrange talks.

But there has been fresh impetus in the boardroom to keep hold of the manager and develop a team to take advantage of the new financial fair play rules, which start to bite in two seasons’ time.

Wenger, whose £7million-a-year salary makes him one of the highest-paid bosses in world football, has indicated to insiders he would be prepared to sit down for talks. And that could see him signing fresh terms before the summer.

Arsenal’s renewed commitment to Wenger could be viewed as a surprise. But is a clear show the Emirates powerbrokers retain faith he is the man to restore the club to its former glories.

Wenger has been at the club since October 1996 and has won three titles and four FA Cups — although there has been no major trophy since their Millennium Stadium triumph over Manchester United in 2005.

So should Arsenal give Arsene Wenger a new two-year deal or is it time to scrap everything and start over.

Wenger has all but destroyed the club. His inability to retain the top class players he finds has been his biggest downfall along with his really rubbish purchases like Gervihno,Bentnail,Squillo,Djourou,Diaby, etc.. If he gets a 2 year extension from the board then they are all delusional and care only for profits. However they too will soon tire of him when the club slips down the ladder to become just another average club. The frenchman has persisted with his so-called youth developement policy which has not acheived any results in 8 years and has accumulated a squad of 3-legged donkeys which cant be sold or given away. Watch us get plastered by bayern on tuesday to finally cancel all hopes of any sucess
