Arsène Wenger admits he is a fan of Demba Ba, but says he did not move for the striker because of his similarity to Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud.
Ba is reportedly on the verge of signing for Chelsea after a fine start to the Premier League season saw him score 13 times for Newcastle before the turn of the year.
The Senegalese striker failed a medical at Stoke City in 2011, and Wenger believes Rafa Benitez’s team will only buy the player if he can prove his long-term fitness.
“Some people say he didn’t manage to pass the medical at Stoke but the last things I heard it’s quite positive for him,” he told Arsenal Player. “I’m sure Chelsea will have a check on that and if they sign him it is because the problem is not as big as people say.
“I like Demba Ba personally, he is a similar type to Giroud who we just bought. It was one or the other one.”

When people lie,they think others are fools.Why is the clarification coming now when it is obvious that again,the club has once more sold a dummy to fans on yet another player? Truth been told,Wenger will begets buy quality no matter how cheap,Llorente is on his way to Juvetus,Klass has extended his contract at Schalke,Villa is another white elephant on his way to Arsenal,we know white elephants don’t exist.Wenger takes risk on our ECL qualification,trophies,hell no,Wenger is out of the league of managers that can win a trophy in a season.We saw the loss to Birmingham,we saw the loss to Bradford,Swansea may just be next,yet he brags about having his best team yet. I blame the fans in England who has refused to make the lives of Wenger and Kroenke a living hell.Two of a kind we certainly don’t need at our dear club.Enough of the insults and pain,we either take action now or await further disappointing results.Arsenal,what a turn in fortune,what a big shame.
