Welcome Back Jack

Jack Wilshere produced an impressive return on his Arsenal comeback as Arsenal beat QPR 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Mikel Arteta.

Some quick thoughts on the game:

I thought Wilshere was terrific. He completed all 33 passes that he attempted in the first half
and you never have known that this was his first appearance for Arsenal in nearly 18 months before he was replaced to a standing ovation midway through the second half.

The game turned with 10 minutes to go when QPR right-back Stephane Mbia was sent off for stupidly kicking out at Thomas Vermaelen. Had doubts that Arsenal were going to break down the QPR defence up to that point. So fitting the goal came down the Arsenal left. Terrific piece of pace by Arshavin (yes Arshavin) and then a great cross that Giroud attacked and forced a fantastic save from Cesar. Arteta eventually poked the ball home after Cesar had pushed Giroud’s header onto the cross bar. Really liked the way that Giroud attacked the cross. He gives Arsenal an aerial threat that has been missing from their game in recent years.

Still not a great Arsenal performance. The team continues to appear flat, and the Gunners passing lacks tempo, making it easier for teams to defend us. Team needs to play at a faster pace.

Good to see Sagna back in the starting line-up but Arsene Wenger needs to do something with Santos, who is simply not good enough.

What did you think of the Gunners performance today?

Sorry i disagree on the matter of Santos!!

Even people who obviously did not see the game will parrot ‘ he is simply not good enough’. yet I definitely recall him drawing applause several times today when he stopped Wright Phillips in his tracks, and i can only remember him being beaten in a 1 on 1 just once when Mackie beat him and the entire Arsenal defense to create the 1 on 1 which manone saved.

Kindly lay off him!! Yes Gibbs has done better thus far. However, that does not make Santos bad!!
