Top of the table

What a great feeling it is to be back on top of the Premier League!

Although is was a lot harder against Bolton tonight than I expected and I have to admit that things were not looking particulary bright when Bolton took a shock lead after only seven minutes and then they went two up when Matthew Taylor scored from the penalty spot.

But unlike the Arsenal team of earlier in the season, these Gunners believe that they can still win games after falling behind and when Tomas Rosicky scored right before half-time you knew that the Gunners would find a way to come back and win the game.

Bolton will argue that the game turned in the 52th minute when Mark Davies was fouled by Gallas outside the Bolton box but the ref waved play on. The ball bounced to Cesc Fabregas who tied up the game.

Speaking of Fabregas, is their any doubt that he wins the Player of the Year award this season? Arsenal are a very different team without him, and he might be the most valuable player to his team in the Premier League.

After Fabregas’s goal the only question was not would Arsenal go on and win the game, but could they score two goals to go top of the league? The answer was yes as Thomas Vermaelen and Andrey Arshavin got the two goals that Arsenal needed.

After the game Arsene Wenger was happy saying:

Chelsea have a game in hand, but it is good. We had two difficult games against Bolton with a new manager, two cup games almost, and our mental and physical strength was tested again tonight. We are certainly much more physically resistant. You cannot find a team better than Bolton in doing what they did tonight – they marked us man to man, didn’t give us an inch of space. Physically, you are never better tested than against Bolton.”

Overall a good night, especially with Spurs losing at Anfield!

Next up for Arsenal is a trip to Stoke in the FA Cup (expect a lot of kids to play) followed by the four league games from hell.

Arsenal is financially sound and first class football, now top in the league. Thanx to Mr. wenger, the world will learn from him.
