For all the talk about bringing in a top striker, Olivier Giroud just cannot stop scoring. I thought he took his goal really well, and almost added a second in the second half. Last season he seemed half a step slow in the penalty box and as a result his shots went wide or were blocked. But he seems to be arriving in the right place at the right time these days and the goals keep going in.
Theo’s pace just scares defenses to death. Great cross for Giroud’s goal and was always a threat to score. No goals yet this season, but that will change.
When Arsenal announced the signing of Mathieu Flamini I have to admit I was not overly impressed. But today he was exactly what Arsenal needed in midfield today. He added a level of aggressiveness that has been missing, and he did a great job organizing the players around him. If he can play like that for a whoel season he will be a great signing.
I thought the Arsenal back-four played really well today. Jenkinson got burned a couple of times early on, but he settled down, and Mertesacker and Koscielny were strong, limiting Spurs to one good chance all day, and that was from a deflected Defore shot. The Arsenal back four got a lot of negative press, and rightly so, after the Villa game, but since then Arsenal have conceded one goal in four games. Whatever changes Arsene Wenger made on the training ground worked.
What did you think of Arsenal’s performance and win today?
