Arsenal’s Theo Walcott agrees with Arsenal fans that youth and inexperience is no longer an excuse for Arsenal winning trophies. In a interview with Sky Sports Theo had these comments:
“We can’t use the experience as an excuse now, with the experiences we’ve had as a side – we need to go that one step further,”
On injuries that have hampered Arsenal’s season Walcott added:
“People say if we had Robin we could have a bit more of a chance. Players that came in, Nicklas Bendtner’s done fantastically well, scoring goals, and that’s what you get judged on.”
Interestingly, I thought Walcott threw the Arsenal defence under the bus saying:
“We had a lot of defensive problems as well, but the likes of Sol [Campbell] came in and did a great job.
Totally agree with Theo here. Arsenal’s youth can not be an excuse next season. It is time for the Gunners to get to finals and into the top two in the league.

The same thing was said by many Arsenal players at the end of last season, though. It’s dejavu. The same things are going to be said this summer. “Our team is young. They are more experienced this season”, “We had many injury problems”, “Djorou coming back will be like a new signing”, “I’m going to prove that I can be a great player this season”, “I needed time to adapt to the Premiership, but now I am ready”… Let the club do their usual talking in pre-season. Results will do the real talking. I don’t have high expectations, we’re the 4th richest club in the world but we are 3rd place contenders so let’s just sit back and wait a few more years.
From this seasons showings and with the introduction of more restrictive rules the `top four `scenario could be coming to a close. We coud be talking of the top six or even eight all on the edge of qualifying for Europe. The gap between these clubs could be as little as one or two points and may even be decided on goal average.
We have our youngsters in place and we should encourage others but that`s not the problem, we (Wenger) has to decide at what level and at what time does he say ” you can`t go further with us, move on”? This also applies the first team squad. The days of trial and experiment are numbered they have to perform from day one. On the salaries alone we can`t afford passenges. I truly believe that contracts should be of two years and negotiable for one year at a time there after. The days of long term contracts and `loyalty` are gone. This is cut throat business and don`t be fooled. Keep producing players by all means, hold on to the best and trade the others. It`s just like a slave market.
3 League titles in 15 years for a BIG club and we still think he’s God? Com’on guys…seriously? Let’s take a step back and be a little bit objective here. Mourinho – 2.5 years; 2 league tittles, 7 cups in total. Ancelotti – 1 year on the job and he’s 2 tittles from tying Wenger.
Look, this is not rocket science here. We know there are the A.K.B faithfuls but he can’t continue to be blindly stubborn. These AKBs are whats killing us. Even after this season, Arsene says two, maybe three “top quality” signings. Chamakah is our first “top quality” signing so maybe one more defender and he’ll tell us that he believes in the squad. I lost faith in that guy
