So Frustrated As Arsenal Slip To Seventh In Table After Bolton Draw

by David on February 1, 2012

Not sure where to start with this one. How can Arsenal be held scoreless by a team that had only kept two clean sheets all season? Easy, unless Robin van Persie scores where are the goals coming from?

Tonight Wenger sent out a midfield three of Song, Arteta and Ramsey with Walcott and AOC out wide. None of those five players are known for their goal scoring ability. Tonight was also the first time that I realized that Wenger has not replaced Fabregas and his goal scoring ability from midfield. Fabregas has scored 15 goals already for Barcelona this season. I wager a bet that the Arsenal midfield collectively does not score 15 goals this season.

With Chelsea only picking up two points from their last two league games, this has been a great chance for Arsenal to put together a winning streak and move into that fourth Champions League place. But the Gunners are now winless in their last four league games and have dropped to SEVENTH in the Premier League.

It is a very real possibility that Arsenal will not qualify for the Champions League next season, hell at this rate the will not even make the Europa League, and the damage that will do to the team in unthinkable.

How will Arsenal be able to attract top quality players without the lure of Champions League football? How will Wenger and the Arsenal board be able to convince their one and only world class player to sign a new long-term deal without being able to offer him Champions League football?

Can someone cheer me up? Is their a silver lining to this cloud that I am not seeing?

There is no way we get top four this year. Maybe we make Europa. We had our chance and dropped points to mediocre teams. That will not get it done. Chelsea will not continue to lose points. Wenger talking about Bolton like they are good is BS. They are not good and we should have grabbed 3 points. Fact.

Well that was a ordinary. And Theo wants to play down the center as a striker????Don’t make me laugh…you have to able to shoot on target from point blank range.
A great decision not buy another a striker in the transfer window. We are reaping the fruits of that decision with a tumble down to 7th position.I just don’t understand it. EVERYONE ( and their dog) knows that we need another top class striker…why can’t the management of MY club ( Not a business but MINE, and the other Arsenal Fans, club) not accept that? I read the quote..Players signed in this window are not motivated or something similar…and couldn’t believe it or what it would mean.Yet here we are still relying on one man to score all our goals.Bringing back TH was inspirational but how many goals did we really expect from him?I think I speak for many Arsenal Fans when I say the prime emotion I’ve felt in the last 4-5 years is frustration as I watch the quality players players sold off or leave because the club shows no ambition in its transfer policy. Rather than the joy I got from watching prior to that. Remember when we had quality? Bergkamp, Pires, Henry, Viera,Cole, Campbell and lets not forget Freddie with his dyed red hair or Wiltord or even Kanu…all on the same team.
I don’t blame Wenger solely, the board is as much to blame. To be frank the club will not remain a force using its current policy. And as sad as I find it to say we need to be bought by some sheikh’s or Russain gangsters. With the depleted quality that has occured over the past 5 years we will need a massive investment and that will not happen while the board lines its pockets. Should RVP leave this club will loose its last true star, we once had a whole sky full, and who could blame him with the total lack of ambition shown? And I will be watching Spanish Football because I cant watch something as Great as this club was and should be die a lingering death.

Well there will be no silver lining at all in Arsenal’s case, it what exactly Arsene and Board have been planning for and deserve. Ivan Gazidis have recently mentioned that they create star players, so no issue about top quality players wanting to come to Arsenal. It really doesn’t matter now whether Arsenal finishes or qualifies for champions league. The club is all about making money only without any ambitions for cup glory. Its a training and selling club thats all. It has been the master plan of Arsene/Gazidis. Youth project failed and soon the extreme sustainable policy will follow suit. Arsene, if you are reading this, I would request you not to give false hope anymore. You will fight for champions league spot? dream on scrooge, your statements are very predictable and cannot be trusted. You have many statements during the last seven years and none of it has come to pass. Tell the fans of the real situation Arsene. Are your hands tight in getting top quality players or is it your pride or the board that has caused the poor performance of the club. I think the fans need to know the truth. Perhaps, then there will not be so much of expectations, you can even finish and qualify for the championship spot and NOT the champions league. No one will be dissapointed then.

After that performance it amazes me that Arsenal are so high up in the table.
To be generous we were average with some players well below average for this level of football. We have come to expect a mediocre performance from the likes of Walcott, Ramsey and now it seems Song, he`s lost his way. Szczecny`s confidence is turning to `cockiness` and won`t do him or the team any good either.
With all the hype and philosophies in the world it`s time to admit this Arsenal side is a middle of the table outfit.
On a lighter note, it was nice to see Pat Rice off his bum and shouting, it must be bloody cold.

I think that we played really well tonight. We created chances and were unlucky to not have scored. Even though we are seventh now I have no doubt that we will finish in the top four again this season.

I tried desperately to see the match here in China but it was a fruitless task. I can imagine how it went though. Loads of possession in midfield. The ball being wasted whenever it went wide and the opposition just compressing the middle because they know Walcott is of no threat to them. Theo needs to be sold at the end of the season, he is the same every game, totally wasteful. Then every so often he gets lucky and scores or one of his aimless crosses fortunately finds Van Persie so everyone says he’s back but he’s never back. Any other winger who gets as much of the ball as him would punish defenses. If RvP gets injured Arsenal will come mid-table, that’s the reality that we’ve been reduced to and it could’ve been avoided if the f*****g board hadn’t pocketted all of the transfer fees received. There’s no fire in the bellies of Arsenal fans now though. They’ll sit back silently when the team is winning and do nothing to protest against what the board are doing to their club when they profit from its’ failures. If Arsenal are not playing in Europe next season it will be the result of greed and fans’ indifference about their club being killed off by fatcats.

I have always known that a top four finish is impossible. The coach does not see it that way. He wants water out of stone. Otherwise, with the blips by mancity, manu, and chelsea, the gap would have been closed. Spurs has been consistent this season and are good contenters for the EPL. Looking at the top five teams, Mancity and chelsea are money bags and spend anyhow to get whoever they want (mostly after scouting by other teams or marketing by agents), but manu and spurs cannot be so described. Arsenal if serious can compete with spurs and manu, but unfortuately, the two teams have assembled far better palyers than Arsenal just because Arsenal does ot wantto spen. If you dont buy good players, there is no way you can be at the top.
