Santos In 130mph Cop Chase

by David on August 22, 2012

André Santos was facing jail last night after he allegedly sped away from chasing cops at up to 130mph.

The Arsenal defender is also said to have weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic in his Maserati GranTurismo supercar.

Santos gunned his black Maserati to stretch ahead of pursuing police, it was claimed yesterday. Cops were said to have struggled to keep up as the Brazilian international shot away at speeds of up to 130mph in the £110,000 car.

Police eventually stopped the 29-year-old left back 500 yards from Arsenal’s training ground and he could be jailed if guilty of dangerous driving.

The Arsenal full back was arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop. He must answer bail next month and could be jailed for up to two years if his case goes to crown court and he is convicted.

The chase happened on the eve of the Premier League season as Arsenal prepared for their opening game against Sunderland at the Emirates stadium.

Police followed Santos because he allegedly drove erratically for several miles — but he is said to have taken off.

A source told the Sun:

“The allegation is that he was travelling at speeds up to 130 mph. Further enquiries are ongoing to verify the speed using on-board police cameras and technical equipment.”

A witness who saw Santos after he was stopped said:

“Two police cars were there and two or three officers were talking to the driver.”

If this is true he`s a nut and has no place in serious pro football. There must be a clause concerning behavior for all players. He`s crossed the line, as many more will and have done. Morons with money.

The police shld understand dat d reason for his over speeding at 130mph on eve of EPL opener, could ‘ve been d reason for such act & dat such a celebrity be grantd favour wit issue of warning dat act shld not repeat itself again rather than treating him wit jail. Moreso, i ‘ll suggest fining him mayae wise wat do u think?

Nice car. Maybe Arsenal can sell him to a German team where he can use the Autobahn.
