Rosicky signs new deal

by David on January 6, 2010

Interesting news earlier this week that Arsenal have signed Tomas Rosicky to a new deal. Rosicky is the 15th Arsenal player to sign a new deal with the club since May 2009. So while we get annoyed that Wenger has not added any new players to the squad, he has very quietly tied up most of his squad on new long-term deals.

I like the Rosicky deal, as when he is fit he is a good player. The problem is keeping him fit. Since joining Arsenal in 2006, he has made only 76 appearances, or about 25 games a season.

Would you have resigned Rosicky is you were Wenger?

ive got to say i wouldnt have, i think it is better to get the younger players signing new contracts as they will be a bigger benfit for arsenal(look what might be happening with merida)although i do think he is a good player when fit but how amny games is he going to play.

It’s definitely a good thing that we are keeping Tomas around. He’s a fantastically gifted player and brings much needed experience to the side. I’m sure that even when he is injured, he’s still imparting much needed advice to young players such as Nasri, Ramsey, Merida, Wilshere etc. Plus he’s got a brilliant shot on him (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01Km-Z_SmF0), decent pace (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DlcBr5LZe4), skills (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLzWRDLULRw) and an eye for important, game changing goals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXaVwa_2lkg).

Good job Arsene!

Wenger made a good decision there by signing by giving TR another chance in Arsenal. The lad is gooood.I pray he plays more matches without injury the remaining part of the season.Wish u good luck Rosicky

To me Rosicky like Walcott can be an exiting player and very effective when fit, but the injury cloud does hang over both of them. It very much depends on the terms of the deal but I wouldn`t consider more than one year for Thomas and an incentive salary. Walcott? If he gets fit and stays fit that`s fine, if not Wenger has the problem of what to do with him.

Apologies: the word is not `exiting` but `exciting` player. New keyboard is crap.
