Even with Jack Wilshere and Lukasz Fabianski in the team, Arsenal Reserves lost 2-1 to league leaders Aston Villa.
The Villa team included England international Stuart Downing as well as Fabian Delph and Nathan Delfouneso.
Sanchez Watt’s 31st-minute header had put the Gunners ahead but Villa scored twice in the last five minutes of the first half to take the points after Fran Merida was sent off.
All in all this was a tough loss for the young Gunners. The sending off was the turning point in the game and the lose leaves Arsenal 5 points behind Villa with a game in hand.
