The combination of last nights win over Liverpool and Chelsea’s loss at Everton has some Gunners fan thinking title race. Let me be up front here. I don’t think that Arsenal will win the title this year. There are 12 games and both Chelsea and Manchester United have to lose a minimum of two games. It is much harder to chase down two opponents instead of one.
But that being said lets look at the next seven games for Arsenal and the other title contenders and see how this title race could play out.
Arsenal
Arsenal v Sunderland
Stoke v Arsenal
Arsenal v Burnley
Hull v Arsenal
Arsenal v West Ham
Birmingham v Arsenal
Arsenal v Wolves
Four home game and three away games against six teams that are in the bottom half of the league. The hardest game appears to be Birmingham away, but it is no stretch of the imagination to expect Arsenal to pick up at least 19 points from these games, with 21 points a very strong possibility.
Chelsea
Wolves v Chelsea
Chelsea v Man City
Portsmouth v Chelsea
Chelsea v West Ham
Blackburn v Chelsea
Chelsea v Aston Villa
Man Utd v Chelsea
Chelsea have three games at home and four away, including that massive game on April 3rd at Manchester United. In addition to the United game, the two homes games against Manchester City and Aston Villa which could be difficult, especially as the Man City game comes three days after Chelsea plays Inter Milan in the Champions League. Lets assume that United beat them at Old Trafford and that Chelsea draw at home with either Man City or Aston Villa. That gives Chelsea then 16 points out of a possible 21.
Man United
Everton v Man United
Man United v West Ham
Wolves v Man United
Man United v Fulham
Man United v Liverpool
Bolton v Man United
Man Utd v Chelsea
Similar to Arsenal, United play for games at home and three away. In addition to the Chelsea game, United play Everton away and Liverpool at home. I have already assumed that they beat Chelsea at home, so that leaves them Everton and Liverpoool to drop points. If United draw one of these games, that gives them 19 points out of a possible 21.
That would translate into the Premier League tables at Easter being:
Manchester United – 76 points
Chelsea – 74 points
Arsenal – 73 points
Everyone within three points of each other with five games to go. What a title race that would be. Thoughts on this?

We need to be extremely lucky to pull this one bt KEEP THE FAITH
You say that both Chavs and Mancs need to lose 2 games each to let us back in, not neccessarily, Chavs and Mancs could draw 2 and lose 1 or or draw 3 each (quite realistic), to let us back in, of course it relies on us getting our wins in the process to catch up – which is hard enough, but possible. So the hope is still there and the race is still on, it’s not over – by any stretch of the imagination, it took just one round of games to reduce the deficit by a third – there’s still 12 to go!.
we’re in still in title race thats what i believe provided Arsenal dont lose/draw more than couple games out of 12….comparatively Man U & Chelsea are left with difficult matches.
