Arsenal started the pre-season on a winning note, beating Barnet 4-0 behind two goals from the impressive Jay Simpson
It took Arsenal only two minutes to score as Andrey Arshavin finished off a nice move than included a great exchange with Thomas Rosicky (who was the Arsenal captain).
Then it was the Jay Simpson show. First Simpson doubled the Gunners’ lead from close range on 16 minutes and then scored his second near half-time after some great passes from Arshavin and Wilshere.
This is a big pre-season for Simpson as Arsenal will probably keep 4 forwards on the roster and he has a chance to be that 4th one.
At half-time Arsenal made 11 substitutions, one of which was Marouane Chamakh. It was good to also see Theo Walcott, Johan Djourou and Kieran Gibbs, all playing and looking good.
Samir Nasri pounced on a Barnet mistake to make it 4-0 and a comfortable first outing of the season for Arsenal.
