Lehmann Started For Arsenal Reserves Today

by David on March 29, 2011

Jens Lehmann played for Arsenal reserves today, this first appearance in an Arsenal shirt since May 2008. According to the Arsenal web site, Lehmann played well making “One stunning reaction save, a string of crosses dealt with impeccably and a confident display”.

Now that he has 90 minutes under his belt, the big question is whether Arsene Wenger is ready to give him the starting job against Blackburn this weekend, or will he give Lehmann another week of training before starting him against Blackpool on 10 April?

The arsenal.com description is bias. Other sites claim he performance was far from okay and he was lucky not to concede more. If that’s the case, I’d stick with the disastrous almunia until the end of the season.

Its really interesting that the Arsenal web site said he played really well, while some of the red tops said he was poor. An Arsenal.com bias?

conveniently forgetting to mention the fact that we lost the game. Maybe a little bit biassed? Sadly Almunia is our only option for the weekend game, and that in itself is quite a worry

We dont know which one to believe bcos i read it in one arsenal site that lehman had a dismal performance. In dat case i pray dat all our midfieder shd play against blackburn so dat d defend and any goalkeper arsene wenger use will have less work to do

Interesting point Kaycee. The Arsenal web site said he played really well, while some of the red tops said he was poor. Its interesting to see the difference in opinion on his performance

What a load of tosh this all is, talk about trying to big up a player. Have people forgotten
how glad we all were when the mad German left us. As the Jock in dads army would have said “we ae doomed Mr Mannering” swap for Wenger. We needed a keeper in the summer and a centre half in January, we got neither and this will be another dismal season, promising plenty and producing nothing. Can’t wait for my season ticket renewal with the increase to drop on the map.
