Quite a few media outlets reporting that Arsenal are interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye as a direct replacement for Alex Song.
According to the Daily Mail, Wenger is interested in signing Cabaye after the 26-year-old caught the eye with an impressive debut season for the Magpies.
Wenger has already expressed his desire to bring in a few more new faces to the club before the transfer window closes, but maintains that he will only splash the cash only on a player who is worth it.
‘I’m pleased with what I have, but yes I anticipate that we will do something,” he told the Daily Mail.
“Defensive midfielder? It depends on the quality of the players available.”
The Gunners have also been linked with Cabaye’s club teammate Cheick Tiote who operates primarily as a defensive midfielder but Wenger has ruled a move for the Ivorian out.
“Tiote is a good player, but he’s not on the way to Arsenal,” he added.
Cabaye made 38 appearances for Newcastle last season, scoring five goals and providing nine assists.
Cabaye had a good season at Newcastle last year, but is he a step up from Alex Song? I don’t think so, which is why I am hoping that this deal does not go through. Yes Arsenal need another defensive midfielder, but I don’t think Cabaye is the answer.

A player with five goals and nine assists is not bad at all. We’d rather have cabaye than depend on injury prone Diaby.

I think cabaye is the answer becouse cabaye is more expirance than m’villa
Cabaye is a very good player. I would rather have Cabaye than M’Villa. Cabaye knows the Prem, Not to much adjustment period for him . M’Villa I am not so sure.
I think cabaye is better cos he already know how the premier league is like already and if yan’m villa Ȋ̝̊̅§ been signed too is not a big deal i believe it will help the team. Pls arsene wenger should sign both of them

Cabaye is good for arsenal, he will play well because he’s french man. Also, M’villa is good.
Dembele is the answer

Technically i think we don’t have a lot of problem in the arsenal team because we already have mikel arteta who is defensively mind n can play deeper in the middle of thè pitch, what i think is that abou (diaby) is not strong ênough to support mikel arteta in the defensive side of the midfield and we know that abou (diaby) is not a natural blocking 4 so playing such player in the heart of the pitch is dangerous. There are lots to say about diaby which totally rule him out as the replacement alex (song) which i can’t say publicy but i believe we need to sign a natural blocking 4 like tiote and m’vila whom have been rumoured to be a replacement of the cameroon international. In respect of these i think prof wenger should land either tiote or yann m’vila to the emirate stadium before friday 30th august midnight.
AW is a professional. His output is measured by what his players produce. He has been on this job for over 28years. i think he can give arsenal the best. Let him decide who to buy.
I thing cabaye is the best option for arsenal bcos i know his quality, he can do better than m’villa, & tioti, bcos am also a footballer so i know the quality of cabaye so arsene wenger should go for cabaye.
