Is Chamakh Set To Sign For Arsenal?

by David on March 4, 2010

Media reports say that Arsenal are Arsenal are close to finalising a four-year deal for Bordeaux’s striker Marouane Chamakh. Chamakh is out of contract this summer and has made little secret of the move.

‘I’ve dreamed of the Premier League since I was a little boy. I am ready to discover the experience for myself,’ he said last week.

With Chamakh at 6′ 1″ (1.85m) as well as Bendtner and the fit again Rob Van Persie Arsenal will have three center forwards with some height that can play as target men and pose a threat in the air.

Who needs a striker , no matter how god he is, as Arsenal have Van Persie, eduardo, and Bendtner, adding to that the progressing Vela, walcot, and simpson, besides that most of their midfielders can score goals. But their fatal weakness is in defense , so for next season ,they need to replace Gallas,Silvestre,Song and Denilsen plus Almunia , or they will keep conceding as easy as if the opponents are playing alone.

Arsenal definitely needs a strikers because as it is now there is none! To list Bendtner as a striker is to do a great injustice to the term ‘striker’. Arsenal needs not just a striker but a world class finisher in the league of the likes of Torres, Drogba, Rooney Messi etc. We cannot expect to play at the top level with mediocre ‘strikers’ like Edwuardo and NB. Arsenal also desperately needs a world class goal keeper. Almunia is the worst goal keeper in among the top ten PL teams. How sad! Doesnt Wenger see this??? Vito Manone is a hundred times better! Just give him a few games and we have our Bufoon!

Center forward is not VanPerse natural position.
He always played behind CF.

While I definitely have not written off this season, I am very excited about the next season should Chamakh be signed. Not only does he pose a real aerial threat, he also is very technically gifted, and should seamlessly fit into the style of play that Arsenal demands.

It true Arsenal have lots of striker, but when Persie injured, Arsenal look like don’t have any… Also can squash the rumor about buying that Zidan..

well given our injury list after 2 months of the season, one more striker is a good thing. there’s not much wrong with the team, just that we need a powerful, dynamic CM that passes well and diaby could be it next season (he seems to be shaping up well in this one). just hope he can remain injury-free and stop being hasty with the ball (always leads to him misplacing passes).

Looks like Chamakh is on his way, now to consentrate on our defence. Campbell and Gallas must now be considered as talented reserves and Vermaelen needs a partner. With a possible addition between the sticks I think that`s as far as Wenger needs to go.

I`ve always tried to keep my comments sensible if not agreeable and I`ve my fair share of criticism. This however may seem less than sensible to most. With all his French connections wouldn`t it be reasonabe to put Walcott out on loan to say PSG or even Bordeaux after all he`s doing nothing where he is and he could even learn to speak French ,although at Arsenal he`s had plenty of time to learn it. Give him time he`s only young…….I know.

i really believe someone like Branislav Ivanovic would do wonders for a fragile arsenal defence. He is very strong and he is brave. im not too happy with gallas. he isnt convincing enough. Ivanovic and Vermaelen would would be impenetrable

Chamak, zidan and melo will be great signings for arsenal but, we must not forget that we lack good defenders and goal-keepers.

The fact he says ‘I’ve dreamed of the Premier League since I was a little boy. I am ready to discover the experience for myself,’ shows Arsenal is not necessarily his destination. He seems to be definately keeping his options open. If he was going to sign for Arsenal he could’ve done that from January onwards. Negotiations did take place.

Where are we leaving Arshavin…now theres a world class striker but he needs more support as he is very short..he is very effective outside the box and perhaps if we got a taller striker to distract the defence whilst he is outside and strike the ball when the other striker is inside…

if its true that arsenal sign chamakh and zidan there power will increase a lot… with arshavin nasri rosicky and fabregas (class ball players) and song (which was lately doing great) and rvp our midfield and attack will be great. regarding the back 4, one can say that vermaelen was superb this season.. imo even gallas did not bad and so did campbell. today against the shitty spurs he was class. as for eboue ill try to sell him he s short on ideas and when he doesnt know what to do with the ball he always does something clumsy… as for gael he does well and is very commited but ill try to make him use his right leg aswell. i beleive next season with a few signings arsenal will win trophies
