Arsenal’s poor run of form to end the season continued as they lost 2-1 away to Blackburn. Arsenal took the lead through van Persie in the 13th minute, but once again the lack of a killer instinct came back to haunt Arsenal. Blackburn got a goal right before the half which gave them confidence and they went on to win it in the second half.
With the loss Arsenal have managed to take only 5 points from their last six league games. Now I thought that Arsenal had locked up the 3rd Champions League spot with the draw against Man City, but looking at the table tonight, that does not appear to be the case.
Arsenal have played 37 and have 72 points. Spurs have played 36 and have 67 points. So if Arsenal lose at home to Fulham next week and Spurs wins at Man City and Burnley then they would have 73 points and Arsenal 72 points. Unthinkable!
The post-game comments were interesting as Fat Sam admitted that part of Blackburn’s game plan had been to target Fabianski. Allardyce saying:
“We know their weakness is balls into the box and certainly the goalkeeper of late, so we did that positively and in the end it has paid off for us with two goals”
Wenger refused to blame Fabianski saying:
“Their (Blackburn’s) main purpose every time is to stop the goalkeeper, not go for the ball, and both times for both goals that happened.”
Asked if Fabianski was at fault in any way, Wenger defended the goalkeeper.
“No,” he said. “I think he had no chance as a goalkeeper, he was pushed every time.”

Big Sam got it spot on & Arsene displayed his usual casual arrogance in his team selection. It was clear that Blackburn would put Flapianski under extreme pressure..so why start him?? Mannone has far more physical presence. Yes he made some good saves but he also gifted them the second goal.
Blackburns second instruction would have been that half of the Arsenal team would
have more than one eye on the World Cup so wouldn’t be up for a fight…and so it proved.
Luckily Fulham have got the Europa League Final 3 days after they play us next Sunday so they’ll be fielding a weaker than normal team. Mind you on todays performance I wouldn’t take for granted the one point that we need to secure 3rd place!!!
In 42 years following the Arsenal I have never felt so let down by the teams faliure to step up to the mark and prove that wearing an Arsenal shirt means something to some of the players!!! And Mr wenger needs to stop making excuses, were all bored of them now. God forbid the Yids could take 3rd place! Does Wenger realise what that means to a Gooner!!!!
What a dissapointing end to a season Mr Wenger, i have held you in high esteem for what seems like for ever, but with all your acheivments, working on a shoestring budget, you must be about as p…ed of as me, shouly you cannot stay at this club any longer they are making you look a mug you need to move on to a club with a bank ballance, at least then i can watch my beloved Arsenal go downhill with a shit manager, if they want to run the club as cheaply as possible, get out why you may still get a couple of bob

The problem with Arsenals management and the coaching staff is negligence and assumptions.After watching Spurs beat Man city to move to 70 points,2 points behind Arsenal,I will not be surprised if we finish in fourth position.Spurs will definitely beat Burnley,am not sure if Arsenal will beat Fulham.Remember it was Mannones heroics that we managed to beat them earlier.I ask Wenger to spare us and listen to our pleas by offering to be competitive next season.We need trophies,if we dont then lets try that we shouldnt have excuses.For how long shall we have cases of so near yet so far!This is the time to wake up,dust ourselves and start serious fighting
