Giroud Says That He Was Not Bought To Replace RVP

by David on August 25, 2012

Olivier Giroud has warned he should not be expected to fill the void left by Robin van Persie and pleaded for time to prove himself in the Premier League.

Giroud’s Emirates Stadium debut was marred by a howling late miss in Saturday’s disappointing 0-0 stalemate against Sunderland, and he is eager to remind Arsenal fans that he will take time to step into the shoes of the striker who fired a stunning 30 Premier League goals last season.

“I am here to bring something different to the team and not to replace a player who has left,” Giroud said. “I have respect for Van Persie, but now I will get a chance in the team as he has gone.

“I ask people to be a little patient with me and it is up to me to succeed here in the end. I have confidence in my ability and look forward to doing great things for this club.”

Can I let Giroud in on a secret? He and Podolski were signed to replace van Persie and they will both be compared to RVP for the next couple of seasons.

Well,I’m not going to compare you cos even RVP does worse tins in his early days with us.Anyways,i have my problems with the gaffer…he is so sickening, why is it so easy for him to sell arsenal stars and then it becomes a big transfer tussle getting replacements back? It is crazy enough to know that a player of Song’s stature and with 3 yrs left on his contract was allowed to leave for a meager 15m quid…why do we give out stars for that meager fee wen we actually claim that our gaffer’s hands were forced…i knw Aresene and the board don’t care about silverware but still since they want the money, they should do it more professionally.SCUMS!
