Giroud: “I’ve Had A Better First Season Than Henry And Drogba”

by David on May 7, 2013

Giroud-ArsenalOh Oliver. Why did you have to go there? Why not serve your suspension and come back against Newcastle in the last game of the season and let your play do the talking?

Instead, the Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has open up a can of worms by saying that his first season in the Premier League was better than either Theirry Henry or Didier Drogba’s

“I replaced Van Persie and when you arrive at a big club like that, they [the fans] are very demanding towards you,” Giroud said in The Times.

“The criticism has not always been deserved, but they push you on.”

He added: “I’ve scored 17 goals and had 11 assists – that is better than Henry and Drogba in their first seasons.

“This is the quality I have. I have got better with this team and this staff. It is another level. I want to continue to improve.”

The problem for Giroud, is that by drawing comparisons to Henry and Drogba, he reminds us that he is not in their class. Henry is arguably the best Arsenal player ever, so comparing yourself to him makes no sense at all.

Then, quote him wrong! How many goals nd assists did Henry nd Drogba has in their 1st season in epl? Coming frm league1 2 epl, new league nd new team mate nd manage to score 17 nd assited 11, Dats almost 28 goals on itself, No we couldn’t ask more than that! On my own opinion d guy has done pretty well dis season nd he can only get better nd better…. Dat is it!!!

What nonsense. Giroud is not saying he is better than these fellas nor that he ever will be. He is merely stating a fact and that is that in one of the toughest leagues in the world he has had a better season than drogba and van persie did. I personally am more than happy with 4 of our attacking ayers this season in fact there are very few that have better stats than walcott cazorla podolski and giroud in their like for like positions and when u consider that 3 of them are in their debut seasons I think next season looks promising. If we can now make sure that we have 2 players in direct competition for each position then we will be right up there. For me we are not too far off that. If everyone was fit all season or in the case of diaby and rosicky just half a season we would be much better off.
So what’s needed?
Gk – another top keeper to rival.szczesney
Rb – nail sagna down to rival jenkinson
Cb – add a top cb to mertesacker koscielny and vermaelen
Lb – sorted
Holding midfield – add one to arteta ramsey coquelin because diaby is not strong enough and frimpong needs to prove his fitness
Attacking midfield – add one to walcott cazorla podolski chamberlain wilshire as rosicky is not fit enough and gervinho is not consistent enough and ryo may not be ready
Striker – another centre forward to rival giroud

My 5 dream signings – casillas williams capoue fabregas lewandowski bonus buy remy or adler fazio wanyama jovetic higuain bonus buy villa
Also add these youngsters to the squad before loaning out some but not all
Martinez
Bellerin
Hajrovic
Miquel
Meade
Yennaris
Aneke
Campbell
Eisfeld
Gnabry
Afobe
