Barcelona has started the next phase of their push for Cesc Fabregas with the comments today from Barca president Joan Laporta.
The latest twist in the will he stay or will he go saga took place last week when Fabregas at a promotional event in Barcelona said:
“You see your [Spanish] team-mates succeeding here [in Barcelona] and it is exciting because you have worked alongside them for so long. I think I would like to go to Barcelona, whether or not they want me is another thing.”
Laporta responded the Fabregas’s comments today saying:
“It is remarkable that the player has said that. If the technical secretary [Txiki Begiristain] believes we must make an effort, we will do and will talk to Arsenal.”
Fabregas said he wants his future sorted out before the World Cup, which begins in less than a month. The good news then is that this story will not drag on all summer. The bad news is that I expect Fabregas to turn in a transfer request in the next week.
So what is Fabregas worth? I would expect that any deal with Barcelona would include Yaya Toure coming to the Emirates, along with £30 – 40million.
Which leads to the questions. Is that a good deal for Arsenal and who should they buy with that money?

Im so angry we make these players who they are ,then theu go whats the point in fabregas signing a contract!!!!! Well go then you unloyal idiot this happens every season im sick of it!!!!!!1 We havent won a trophy since 2005 Wenger sought it out!!!!!!!
ade=fab
he must stay at arsenal for at least 2 more seasn.waitng for ramsey to be a big thing.if he does leave,i thnk nasri or arshavn can play that positon..
If fabregas wants to leave he can fuck off and go. He left barca because he felt he cudnt get a look in and if barca felt like he was so precious they wudnt hav let him go that easily.it goes to show they didn’t think much of him. They wudnt have let a young messi go or iniesta. I hope his career goes down the drain as he warms the bench at barcelonan just like hleb.
He can go. We wish him well. He has done his best 4 the club & the club has tried 4 him too. A deal involving Yaya Toure will be a goo one. We can get Micheal Arteta or Edem Hazard for 15million pounds then Joe Hart for 10-15million pounds then Mexes for free & we will be fine for next season.
We should get at least £50 million for him. He’s only 23 FFS. And they can keep Toure as well. Do I really need reminding of one of our best ever players leaving every week? That’s what it would be every time Toure took to the field. If Cesc goes they will have ruined our midfield once again and we will have to build the side, once again. It’s a project I’m growing tired of to be honest.
i dont want him to leave but lets be honest it was always goin to happen and i do believe he will be the exeption to the rule – that if u leave arsenal, the grass is always greener on the other side. Hleb, henry, flamini the list goes on, these players have never met the same level of competetive football or the praise that arsenal offered them, all that aside if we get yaya toure & about 40 mill i would take a deal, but we are in control in this situation, we MUST sell but at a price that SUITS US.
Apparently we already have about 30 mill to spend on transfers atm, which should go on a commanding keeper (joe hart) 2 cb’s if gallas leave’s ( upson & cahill), we already have chamakh on a free transfer, which brings us neatly to the cesc situation , we all agree we need a big paddy style cm so if we could wrangle a deal to include yaya toure that would be a benefit for us and with the reamining funds, we would need to replace mr. Fabregas. To be totally honest i dont know who could fit his role and be just as dominant in it, but is (arteta,) such a bad option. A fantasy transfer would be Eden Hazard, he is extremely talented and at 18 has years ahead of him still, his manager has alreay branded him as a young messi/ ronaldo type player and we all know wengeer missed signing ronaldo at an early age.
To summarise this would be my ideal first 1 next season,
(joe hart)
b. sagna (m. upson) t. vermalaen g. clichy
(e. hazard) (y. toure) (m. arteta) a. arshavin
m. chamakh r. van persie
beurcouf all the way i think he could be better than cesc
he wont be the same at barca look at henry neva got to his best at barca i know cesc is younge but hes going to club tht has many stars and he becomes a newbie give it two years and he will wish he neva left
As a gooner my self i think that we have proved that we are a good team even without our current captain certainly during his first injury spell mid-late season when we were still in the title race. we certainly have depth in our squad with players like nasri who filled in his place during his injury spell. we also have some younger players coming through and Yaya Toure would be a welcome adition to the club if Cesc Went.
i think his transfer will have little other than a mental effect on the team and maybe a slight formation change. bring on next season
i thin arsenal don t have the capabily to keep a player of such type then same thig
every year arsene says we were that close and have shoed better figting capability
it happen every year just like henry he was good at north london
and lost his place due to uprising bojan and pedro and hleb {forgottton}
common who will wait for another leader and then snatched away real madrid who zero and barca kill eveyone but there is roumers that lloris may join the gunners but
if they had kept adebyor and kolo tore it would have been a different story they dont have money to trow bfore the players to tempt them to stay and finaly henry went due to new stadium dept and adebayor and kolo had relationship problems
Muppet. Cutting and pasting comments taken out of context doesn’t make for impressive reading.
There is no story. And you are a Muppet.
I fully support cesc to leave th team due performance and arsene weger attitude towards the player’s.
Arsenal should not agree on negotiation terms with barca on fabrigas i think the player must stay at emirates this summer.fabrigas is not for sale.
