Some new and some updated transfer rumors.
Arsene Wenger was interviewed yesterday and spoke about Cesc Fabregas and Joe Cole. On Fabregas going to Barcelona, Wenger said:
“What is important is that he [Fabregas] has a great World Cup and comes back to Arsenal and has a great desire to do well for the club. We want to keep our best players — that has always been my view. He has been here since he was 16 and we want to continue to work with him and strengthen the team.”
Pretty bland statement from the Arsenal boss who I think knows that Fabregas is gone after the World Cup.
Wenger and Joe Cole are reported to have had dinner before they both left for South Africa. Cole would prefer to stay in London and so Arsenal and Spurs would appear to be his two top of his list. On Cole Wenger said:
“I like him. Whenever he plays against us, he always does well.”
Yes losing Fabregas would be a big loss. But if Arsenal can replace him with Yaya Toure and Joe Cole and get £30 million that they can spend on other areas, that makes good business sense to me.
Arsenal have also approached Fulham about signing Mark Schwarzer. According to Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood “We have made an enquiry for him and they are not prepared to sell him so we have gone away. We can only hope they will change their minds, but at the moment it doesn’t look like it.”
Schwarzer was terrific for Fulham last year and would be an improvement over Manuel Almunia. Schwarzer wants to come to Arsenal and it looks like the Gunners will need to up their original bid of £3m.

I said it was a pretty bland statement by Wenger and I think he will be gone this summer
…Pleas J.cole,we went him he will be perfect if he become a gunner please J.cole…
excited about the prospect of cole, schwarzer and yaya but I will be hugely disappointed if fab leaves
Fabregas is not leaving… you misinterpreted his quote!!!!!!!
Hopefully you are right Omar
which part of “we want to keep our best players – that is my huge determination” do you not understand?! if what fabregas said earlier about his future being in wenger’s hands, then obviously wenger will want to keep him and fabregas SHOULD stay. keep up the optimism guys, our beloved captain will stay!
