After every Arsenal game, fans can go to the Arsenal web site and vote for their Man of the Match.
For the Liverpool game Marouane Chamakh finished first with 24 per cent of the votes. Samir Nasri came second with 22 per cent and Tomas Rosicky came third with 18 per cent of the votes.
Really? I thought Chamakh battled hard and did not get a lot of support, but I thought that Nasri had a much better game.

This is how you know all Arsenal fans have lost a sense of reality along with wenger. Im just thinking they are all living in cloud bloody fairy land. CHAMAKH DID FUCK ALL THE WHOLE GAME, EVeRY COMMENTATOR ON THE RADIO SAID IT, ON THE TV SAID IT, yet in delusional Arsenal fans minds Chamakh was best player and nasri second lol. Yes I guess Nasri was second with his contsant sideways passing. This is how you know nothing is going to cange at the club, we got delusional fans, delusional manager saying Almunia did great at Liverpoool, was he watching the same game as everyone else, delusional board.
All the Nasri did the whole match was to receive the ball from the right flank, the sell a dummy to the defender by turning inside instead of realising the team-mate on the wing. But then ended up passing it back. Result? Nil. What’s the use of such possession?
Chamakh hardly got any good service from the midfield, but he kept toiling. In the end, its his perseverance that got us a point and salvaged our pride.
I expected a lot more from Nasri given his preseason form, but he disappointed. He needs to learn to be penetrative like Cesc and open up more angles, instead of dribbling inside and then passing back all the time!
Very true!if cesc was 2 leave,we’d be doomed!!nasri stil cant fit his shoes!
Lets jus hope fabregas returns soon….
The only disapointment should all be thrown Arshavins way. he’s started up even more sluggish then he finished last season and not to forget that mess of a human keeper almunia. Arsene for crying out loud we’ve waited long enough, please just spend a little dollar on some hard talent.
Dont evn know y anyone wud vote 4 Nasri. We all know he can dribble, dummy, run wit the ball but in the end wat does it benefit us if he cant shoot or pass forward? And when we got decent freekicks he had the skills to slum them str8 into the wall! For Godssakes we have Chamack and Diaby up there. He didnt put one pass forward, thats the reason Rosicky changhed the game when he came on. He runs and passes forward, he is open to receiving a return ball and is eager to play in everyone, now thats a playmaker, that is a matchwinner that is a man of the match!
Nasri had a good game, if you were voting for best dribbler.
He dribbled aimlessly, no through balls at all! There were so many opportunities to thread the ball but he just turned and dribbled some more. His free-kicks and corners were terrible! Cesc was definitely missed, imagine if he did go to Barca!! Chamakh had no service whatsoever. Arshavin looked flippen lazy I thought, as usual. To be fair to Almunia, I’ve seen many “top keepers” get beaten with that very same strike on their near post. We can’t keep blaming almunia if our defence is giving the ball away like that. Having said that, he looked shaky again at set pieces, but I think there’s so much pressure on him that he’s too nervous on the pitch. I think Vermy and Koszielny looked solid, but now that he got a red card, where’s the cover?? We need another CB!
I kind of agree with Sam. For all the fancy footwork that Nasri displayed in the first half, he really lacked the killer instinct. But I am very hopeful that we witnessed the transition that is happening with Nasri, and he will please in time to come (this season).
Nasri slows are play down big time
as nasri is my favourite player in the current arsenal set-up i am pretty biased no doubt.
but guaranteed, nasri was giving his teammates space to work with, i agree he held on too long at some points. but that was in the first half, we’ve all seen cesc have a tale of two halfs
unfortunately in the second half, with inexperience, an individual diaby and an individual wilshere, samir was never really going to get many more chances to get involved. when wilshere gave that ball away, it’s a tough ask for any creative team to break down the barricades of that liverpool team
he did try and play marouane in quite a bit, which is positive, but the morrocan never really made well timed runs, samir’s through balls were a way off as well.
personally i didn’t see wilshere having the composure to play through the middle the way nasri demands, that’s why the team became more threatening when rosicky was brought on
but for all the footwork nasri showed, i’m sure we were all in “ooh’s” and “ahh’s”, it never really amounted to anything. i agree with that.
but on another day, when he scores one or 2, or creates in at least one of the halfs and still pulls those beautiful dribbles. we, or at least i, thank god he was brought to this club. and i don’t even know if god exists!
Calm yourselves! Liverpool defended well, simple as that. A point aint too shabby at liverpool even if they had 10 men. We will smash at ‘em at home! Nasri looked tired if anything and chamakh doesn’t look like he can handle being a lone striker in the prem just yet. Speaking of chamakh does anyone else think he moves around just like gilberto?
Rosicky was man of the match, no doubt. When he came on, everything changed
We need strong foward like aghbalahoo defend like cahil for any worth!
I totally agree with Wilbrod. I think Rosicky was man of the match. He came on and changed the flow of the ball. he reduced the pressure on our midfield. he has good vision for the ball and his ball supply is good. he also has an eye for goal. THOSE ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A MATCH WINNER. have u imagined what we would have done had he and walcott started the game?
Chamakh gets the title for the “goal”, not for his game. Nasri was a lot better!!
all the arsenal players need to learn how to cross the ball into danger areas, and for that lesson, look no further than Nani of UTD. i hate UTd but Nani crosses well. he can draw defenders out and throw in a really good ball. our sagna is shite and i dont know why eboue doesnt get enough play time. he is a better threat. walcott needs to spend half a day with nani as well. nasri turns around in circles i wonder if he never gets dizzy. he just does circles all the time, going nowhere. we need a direct player like pienaar. alumnia got beaten near post, reminds me of the ibrahimovich goal. casillas, given or joe hart have shown how to block such shots. sometimes u just put your body in the way and block the ball, thats what makes ika casillas a hero. gibbs shd play ahead of wilshire, and wilshire is not far from a horrifc injury. i have seen the way he lunges into tackles, sometimes not clever at all.
