Arsenal beat Wigan 4-0 today to move up to 5th place in the Premier League. This was a good performance by Arsenal and importantly another clean sheet for Wojciech Szczesny.

- Four different Arsenal players got on the score sheet. Yes Robin Van Persie scored again but so did Arteta and Gervinho. If Arsenal are to finish in the top four they need someone other than RVP to score goals so it was gratifying to see goals coming from midfield and up-front

Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after tonight’s 1-0 loss to Man City in the Carling Cup:
on the winning goal…
It was an unfair result but I felt we were a bit naive because it was a corner for us and a goal for them. I knew that we were in trouble and I feel we didn’t take enough time to take the corner because Djourou was just going up front and he had to stay at the back on the corner. We didn’t leave him enough time to come back and that’s where we were caught. Read more... (798 words, estimated 3:12 mins reading time)

A relatively young Arsenal was knocked out of the Carling Cup tonight 1-0 by Manchester City. City fielded a much more experienced side than Arsenal and it took a goal from Sergio Aguero six minutes from time to end Arsenal fans hopes of another trip to Wembley.
Losing is always disappointing, but I though that tonight Arsenal’s reserves and squad players gave a really good account of themselves and that makes losing more palatable. Read more... (301 words, estimated 1:12 mins reading time)

Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after today’s 1-1 draw at home with Fulham:
on the result…
The positive again is that we have shown exceptional spirit, desire and refusal to lose the game. Many players were on the fringe today and we had not completely digested the Champions League game on Wednesday night. We needed to dig deep.
The circumstances went against us on top of that because when Fulham scored I didn’t see them crossing the halfway line too much in the second half. It was very unfortunate to be 1-0 down but we refused to lose the game can came back to 1-1. It’s disappointing because we dropped two points but at least it keeps our unbeaten run going. Missed opportunity for Arsenal today as they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates by Fulham. Thomas Vermaelen was the hero and villain today, as he scored at both ends of the pitch.
It really was a missed opportunity with Newcastle and Man United drawing at Old Trafford and Man City playing Liverpool on Sunday. With a win, Arsenal would have been only two points behind United in the table.
But they didn’t and their is nothing they can do about it now. This was a typical post-Champions League performance by Arsenal. The players looked a little tired and lacked the urgency and pace that they have displayed in recent weeks. Read more... (291 words, estimated 1:10 mins reading time)

Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund last night?
on another Robin van Persie brace…
He is in a period where of course he doesn’t have to look for goals – they just come naturally for him. He is always in the right place at the right moment and he got two goals again tonight from positions that look easy but they are not. He just understands the game so well. Read more... It is difficult to keep finding words to describe the form that Robin Van Persie is in. He is simply one of the best players in the world and deserves to be in the same conversation with Messi and Ronaldo.
He two goals last night (16th and 17th of the season) meant that Arsenal became the first English team this season to qualify for the Champions League knockout phases. Read that sentence again and think back to the gloom and doom after the Man United defeat. These Gunners have come a long way since that dark day at Old Trafford. Read more... Here are some of Arsene Wenger comments after today’s 2-1 win at Norwich.
on the three points…
We should have got there at the start because we missed some early chances. In the first 20 minutes we had at least three clear-cut opportunities and on top of that we were 1-0 down. That made the game difficult against a very dynamic Norwich side.
But backs against the wall we did very well again today, like we did at Chelsea. In the second half, once we got to 2-1 we controlled the game well and were never really in trouble. Overall it is a very positive win today. The team is growing from game to game, getting stronger and you feel there is some mental strength inside there. Read more... Arsenal won 2-1 at Norwich today behind two goals from Robin van Persie, but they should have scored five or six.
It was Arsenal at their most frustrating today. Frustrating in the way that Arsenal conceded. A simply long ball over the ball that Mertesacker failed to clear allowing Morison to make it 1-0 Norwich.
Frustrating in the number of chances that Arsenal missed today, especialy Gervinho. Arsenal had 14 shots on goal today and most of them were really good chances. They were just wasteful in front of goal. Read more... (284 words, estimated 1:08 mins reading time)
