When Bendtner scored after 19 minutes I thought that Arsenal had a chance at a massive upset in Spain. Then the Gunners then wasted another chance of a breakaway, when Diaby pushed the ball left to Bendtner when Walcott was in acres of space on the right.
Arsenal’s speed was causing Barcelona trouble and I thought that if Arsenal had been able to keep the score 1-0 until half-time who knows how the game would have turned out, as all the pressure would have been on Barcelona. Read more... (205 words, 1 image, estimated 49 secs reading time)

I have to say that after the first 20 minutes I was amazed that Arsenal were not already out of Europe. Arsenal could not keep the ball as Barcelona ran riot and should have been three or four goals up, if it was not for some terrible shooting and some brilliant goalkeeping from Manuel Almunia. Almunia was simply brilliant in the first half and the single-handedly kept Arsenal in the tie.
Barcelona had 69% of the possession and made three times as many passes as Arsenal in the first half. But the score was still 0-0 and Arsenal were still in the game. When Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored seconds into the second half and then again after 59 minutes Arsenal’s European dreams seemed to be over. Read more... Mid March and the Gunners are top of the Premier League. It does not get much better than this!
Arsenal moved to the top of the Premier League after beating West Ham 2-0 at the Emirates. The Gunners got goals from Denilson and Fabregas and overcame the sending off of Thomas Vermaelen.
A minute before half-time Vermaelen was deemed to have been the last man when he pulled down Guillermo Franco, and was shown a straight red card by referee Martin Atkinson. But luckily for Arsenal, Manuel Almunia saved Alessandro Diamanti’s penalty. Who knows what a goal for West Ham would have done for their confidence so close to half-time, but the save was the biggest moment of the game. Read more... Three minutes deep into injury time a title contending team scored a goal that enabled them to grab al three points and keep their title dreams alive. That title contending team is Arsenal.
We will not know for another couple of months how important that winner that from Nicklas Bendtner will prove to be, but tonight Arsenal are right there in the title race because of it. Bendtner, who missed chance after chance last week against Burnley has now scored four goals this week and 9 of the season, making him Arsenal’s third top scorer this season.. Read more... Well I thought Arsenal would score against Porto, but I never expected five.
Arsenal ran riot at the Emirates hammering Porto 5-0 in the Champions League as Nicklas Bendtner scored three goals, and Samir Nasri and Emmanuel Eboue each chipped in one. Yes, the same Nicklas Bendtner who could not hit a barn door on the weekend scores three goals tonight in the Champions League
“I believe over 90 minutes we controlled 80,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. “We controlled the game and scored great goals, and we were good to watch.”
Porto manager Jesualdo Ferreira called the match a “fast movie.” Read more... (263 words, 1 image, estimated 1:03 mins reading time)

A horrific injury to Arsenal youngster Aaron Ramsey overshadowed a last-gasp win over Stoke that hauled the Gunners firmly into the Barclays Premier League title race on Saturday night.
The 19-year-old midfielder appeared to break his leg after a red-card challenge from Ryan Shawcross that had echoes of team-mate Eduardo’s own bad injury two years ago.Shawcross, who was shown an immediate red card, appeared to be in tears when he left the field and a number of other players were clearly upset by the incident.
The injury overshadows a huge Arsenal come from behind win, that moved the Gunners to within three points of leaders Chelsea and ended Stoke’s 11-match unbeaten run Read more... (503 words, 1 image, estimated 2:01 mins reading time)

It will not go down as a classic Arsenal performance, but today’s 2-0 win over Sunderland accomplished two objectives. One it removed that sick feeling from the mid week performance against Porto.
Two, it moved Arsenal within two points of second place in the league with 11 games to go. Arsenal stayed 6 points back of Chelsea, who did not look convincing in beating Wolves today.
Arsene Wenger for on believes that the title race is on, saying after the game: Read more... (487 words, 1 image, estimated 1:57 mins reading time)

For those Arsenal fans who have clamored for Arsene Wenger to replace Almunia, now we know why he kept with him. Because Fabianski is not up to the job.
Fabianski made two school boy errors as Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Porto in the Champions League. The first after 11 minutes when he palmed a cross from Silvestre Varela into his own net. A simply horrible error.
Then six minutes into the second half, Fabianski outdid himself as he picked up an ill-judged back pass from Campbell inside the penalty box. Then he gave the ball straight back to the referee and Porto promptly quickly took the free-kick and Falcao scored from six yards out. Read more... Another disappointing game for Arsenal fans as the Gunners were completely outclassed at Stanford Bridge and lost 2-0 to Chelsea which effectively ends Arsenal’s title hopes for another season.
The game was over within 25 minutes when Chelsea jumped to a 2-0 lead and they just sat back and let Arsenal have the ball, knowing that the Gunners would have trouble breaking them down. I must say I am a little mystified when Arsene Wenger said after the game:
“It is difficult to swallow a defeat like that when we felt we were the better team,” Read more... (578 words, 1 image, estimated 2:19 mins reading time)

After the draw with Villa tonight, I was on Twitter with some Arsenal fans, and that was the question that was asked. The consensus was that this was a point gained. Do you agree?
Arsene Wenger looked at it as two points dropped saying:
“I believe we dropped two points because we had clear chances but on the other hand it was a difficult game. They stopped us from playing when we had the ball and they played a long-ball game and closed us down, so it was difficult. We didn’t always find our passing game. We know when we come here what we get and we were not disappointed. [The result] keeps our unbeaten run going. If you put all the games together I believe it maintains the positive vibes. Overall, you have to win any game at the moment. Compared to Chelsea who won today, we dropped two points.” Read more... (342 words, 1 image, estimated 1:22 mins reading time)
