Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after today’s 1-1 draw with Wolves:
on the result…
It is frustrating but I am more frustrated by the result than the performance and the spirit. You cannot fault the attitude or the commitment or the desire to win the game. We missed a great opportunity but we just have to keep going and take the positives out of the game today. Read more... (660 words, estimated 2:38 mins reading time)

After seeing Chelsea and Liverpool drop points yesterday against teams in the lower half of the table, I was fully expecting Arsenal to beat Wolves today and move into a top four position.
But once again Arsenal had tons of possession but could not turn that possession into goals and as a result a big two points were dropped.
Gervinho gave the Gunners the lead when he was put clear by Yossi Benayoun but Arsenal conceded a poor goal close to half-time and Wolves held out many because of goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey. Read more... (310 words, estimated 1:14 mins reading time)

Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after last nights 2-1 win at Villa Park.
on the result…
Villa were dangerous but first I must say two things. We had two difficult away games where we had to give absolutely everything just over Christmas, physically. In the first half we controlled the game quite well and in the second half when they came back to 1-1 we had quite a difficult period. Then we stabilised the game and in the last 15 minutes you could feel we were on top again. Read more... (512 words, estimated 2:03 mins reading time)

It was not your typical Arsenal performance at Villa Park last night, but it was the kind of grind it out performance that top teams achieve even when they don’t play well.
Arsenal has lacked that quality in recent years, but this is a more gritty, harder working Arsenal team. And they are growing on me with every game.
Against Villa it looked like Arsenal would be forced to settle for only one point, when in the 87th-minute, Yossi Benayoun scored from a Robin van Persie corner to grab all three points. Read more... (267 words, estimated 1:04 mins reading time)

Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after today’s 1-0 defeat to Man City:
on a tight game…
I think it was a game that could have gone both ways. It was very intense with both teams going for it and I feel as well that we were a bit unlucky. Their keeper had a good game and we were a bit unlucky with the fact that we had to reshuffle completely at the back in a position where we are already short – we paid too much for that. Read more... So Arsenal lost 1-0 to Man City today, a defeat that stops Arsenal eight match unbeaten run, and all but ends Arsenal’s title hopes. But when the final whistle went today I was not that disheartened.
That was because I was happy with the effort and performance of the Gunners. On another day, with a bit of luck (yes that was a handball on Richards) it would have been one nil to the Arsenal. This Arsenal side has come a long way since its last trip to Manchester in August. This is an Arsenal side that is better defensively than it has been in several years. I thought that Koscielny, Mertesacker and Vermaelen were all terrific at the back, while Szczesny made some terrific saves. A year ago we were all telling Arsene Wenger to buy a goalkeeper and two central defenders. I think those areas look pretty solid these days. Read more... Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after today’s 1-0 won over Everton:
on a fitting matchwinner…
You [the media] will say we are van Persie dependent! Today he got us a goal which was at the moment of the game where we struggled a little bit to create chances. He delivered something special and three important points.
on the performance…
Overall we created many chances in the first half, and the players were a bit disappointed at half-time that we did not score. In the second half, Everton played deeper and gave us less room, we lacked a bit of team pressure to get them out of position. We needed something special. I was always confident we would score, but I am very pleased we kept composure and did not give a goal chance away. Read more... (749 words, estimated 3:0 mins reading time)

It’s been a hard, long slog, but Arsenal are back in the top four of the Premier League after beating Everton 1-0 at the Emirates today. As usual is was Robin van Persie who got the Arsenal goal, his 33rd goal in 32 Premier League games in 2011, which puts him one short of the watching Thierry Henry’s club record for a calendar year.
As expected Arsene Wenger moved Vermaelen to left back to replace the injured Santos. Mertesacker and Koscielny down the middle with Djourou at right back. I thought that three of the four played well, but Djourou to me continues to show that he is not a right back. Read more... (428 words, estimated 1:43 mins reading time)

Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to Olympiacos.
on the result…
We had the early chances but Olympiacos played a very committed game. They made it a good battle and we lost too many balls in the first half especially. We were a bit insecure.
Overall they were 2-0 up because they were sharper than we were. We came back to 2-1 and it looked more like we could level, but they scored the third goal. Read more... (425 words, estimated 1:42 mins reading time)

Here are some of Arsene Wenger’s comments after Arsenal beat Wigan 4-0 today:
on the result…
Wigan started well, created some dangerous situations and surprised us at the start. After that 15 minutes we took control of the game and never looked like losing that. Maybe a bit in the first five minutes of the second half. But overall we had a good team performance defensively and offensively. The confidence is there and you could feel that in the way we played today. I can only congratulate the team. They are growing and they are getting better and better. You could see there is something there to work on.
on a possible comeback…
I had that in my memory when it was 2-0 and they started strongly in the second half because they had done that last season. I just felt that today we had too much for Wigan and that we looked solid at the back. We didn’t lose any goals in the fights and therefore of course we were under threat less defensively.
