Barcelona causing mischief again

by David on December 17, 2009

Barcelona are over in Asia taking part in the FIFA Club World Cup. There is a lot of media coverage their so it is no surprise to read in today’s Sun that Barcelona President Joan Laporta is once again talking about signing Cesc Fabregas. Can these Spanish Presidents just shut up?

Laporta is quoted as saying:

“Cesc Fabregas is desired by us for many reasons. Barcelona have decided to fight for the kid for next season. The money? This will be decided at the end of March to prepare the way for a deal. Cesc is such a big player. Our intention is to convince the Londoners about the sale. It won’t be easy but we have good relations with the Gunners.”

The story goes on to say that Barca are prepared to pay Arsenal £40m for Fabregas and if that does’t work they will offer Yaya Toure, brother of former Gunners defender Kolo, plus £30m.

I can tell you right now Mr. Laporta those offers are not good enough, although £40m + Yaya Toure might be an offer that Arsenal have trouble turning down.

Listen Barca, give us one more season with Cesc showing Ramsey the ropes and you can have him. We understand the pressure you are under to sign him. After spending some time in Barcelona and seeing all the Fabregas replica kits, billboards with Cesc on them, the fact that everything Cesc does is reported and the questions you get after nearly every poor performance about bringing him, I understand how important to you he is, but he’s not reached his full potential and has many years left, if you wait another year he will be the best player in the world and we’ll be a little happier to let him go as Ramsey will be good enough to take his place.

I don’t want to lose him yet, but let’s make it 50mil + Yaya. Cesc is only 22, and his age alone should add an extra 20mil.

That means we can offload Denilson, keep Song as Yaya’s backup (though I know Wenger hates to hurt the feelings of his ‘projects’), maybe offload a few others and bring in his replacement, someone already in their prime, to mentor Ramsey.

Lets be reasonable here. TH14 left arsenal to barca just to win champions league. Why shouldn’t Fab do the same? Fab wants to win something and I do not think he can do that at arsenal judging by the quality of players Arsene has. AW has nothing more to offer arsenal and her fans. As it is now, 4th position will be a struggle. We need a revolution at arsenal.

I like Ramsey, he’s great to watch because he plays with heart and I believe he will do great things, but theres no way he’ll be on par with Fab after 1 more season. After 3 seasons, maybe.

Have to agree. I think Ramsay is a great talent and will replace Fabregas at some time, but it will not be this season or next
