Fabregas, while still only 22, is one of the best midfielders in the world. To offer a back-up forward and want-away forward is pretty insulting. At least throw in the £30-50 million that it is going to take to sign him
As I wrote last week, these Febregas to Spain rumors are only going to grow in intensity the nearer we get to the World Cup.
One bright-spot in all this is that Arsenal already have Fabregas’s replacement in the squad. Aaron Ramsey was brilliant for Wales against Scotland over the weekend and when Cesc leaves, Ramsay is a perfect successor. They are very similar players, so they cannot really play together, but I view Ramsay as Fabregas’s successor.

Personally I think 50-60mil is a good number for Fabregas. He is not Kaka and Ronaldo and should cost less than them

I hope Cesc stays for a few more seasons so Ramsey is fully ready to take on that mantle. He is still young and could use a few more seasons behind Cesc for polishing. (imo)
However, I think the pressure this summer is going to relentless and massive on Cesc and Arsenal from Barca, so it might be inevitable, especially depending on how much they offer. I think Wenger should hold them to ransom and demand (get) 60mil for him.

Let Stupid Barca paid through their damn nose if they really want Fabregas, let them pay 50-60 million because he worth it, he is one of the best midlefielder in the world if not the best at the moment.
Arsenal are a soft club, so easy for BARCELONA to treat our club like shit, and no reactions from our manger even the chairman, money money money that is all, and they refused to use the money for new players, shame. Don’t sell fabregas or else.
It is interesting how the Spanish clubs can “tap up” players through the media and UEFA does nothing. Look how long the Ronaldo to Real Madrid stories were in the media before United were finally forced to sell him
It’s not always about clubs tapping up players when players also come out and say “X” club is the club they supported as a child and it’s their dream to play there.
Barca have let their interest be known. Cesc has made it clear he feels he has a job to do and trophies to win at Arsenal but nobody knows what will happen in the future. Everything else seems media dramatization to sell papers and raise ire.
They will have to do a lot better than that. We do not need another young unexperienced attack player when we already have several (Vela, Merida, Wilshire, Walcott, Watt) and if Wenger was ever interested in Yaya he would of bought when he had him on trial. Anything less than 30m offer is an insult, or they could try swapping Xavi and Iniesta for him. I doubt Arsene will let Fab go utill he is sure we have a suitable replacement and the price is right.
We dont need Toure now as Song as come on leaps and bounds and Krkic is not better than RVP or Eduardo. What a ridiculous offer. Fabregas in todays market is easily worth between 50-70 million.
If he were to go in a swap deal I would ask for Messi. Ok Barca would not do that but in money value they are both around the same ish give or take 15mill. I think we should hound them every day about bringing Messi to Arsenal and see how they like it. Just leave Fabregas alone. He has said numerous times he is committed to us, I personally don’t think he will go to Barca until Iniesta or Xavi leaves and that will be a few years yet.
As for Ramsey ok hes a good replacement but Wilshere will be even better. His movement, passing, strength on the ball, awareness and eye for goal is even better than Fabregas’s at the same age. In 3 years time every one will be talking about him and in 8 years time…dare I say it , he will be England Captain.
You might well be right about Wilshere. If he is going to progress that much, then Wenger will have an interesting decision in the next three years as to whether Fabregas, Ramsey and Wilshere can all play together.

We do here Gerrard and Rooney rumors, both from Real Madrid and Barcelona. The difference is that these two are English and moving to Spain is a harder move for them than Fabregas going back to Spain

Then comes Cesc&Rosicky….£50mill for Cesc has to be a good deal when we have the likes of Ramsey/Denilson/Nasri/Diaby/Song all at the club not to mention Fran/Wilshere/Coquelin! With the cash, bring in Ogbonna/Matthews/Ozil.
Paul, you make some great points here. Accepting £14mill for Clichy, if Gibbs can replace him is a good business move. Same with Fabregas. £50mill is a lot of money and if you think that Ramsey, Wilshere, etc can replace him without taking a big drop then it is hard to turn down that kind of money

Now this guy is talking some sense. I agree except Eboue – I think he’s rather good and his versatility and willingness to accept a utility man role wherever need be is an extremely vital asset. Ogbonna is a good shout as is Ozil (but I struggle to see how he would start considering the other talent that Wenger seems to have put his faith in) and who the hell is Matthews? I would say say all we need is Sakho and we would be complete.

i wil be happy if we hold on to him for another two to three years …basically he will be better than ronaldo and kaka in two years time….If we transfer him i am expecting barca to pay around 50 to 60M and some young players from barca…he is really worth every penny which is to be paid for him.
This story is about two guys who want more playing time and would warrant it at plenty other clubs around Europe and one guy who’ll eventually end up at Barca a few years down the road.
For all of the dream player swap scenarios Messi is going nowhere. Neither are Xavi and/or Iniesta. The fact that they will likely remain at Barca for years to come works in our favor to keep Cesc in London. He knows he will not displace those guys at Barca and will either play a bit out of position or play less frequently (behind their tandem) if he goes there too soon while on the other hand he’s the drum that keeps Arsenal’s rhythm.
The rumors and stories will continue though…
It’s not even about the money,they show no respect and we also have taken it to be tradition to sell our good asset(s).have we ever made a bid or rumour about messi,iniesta or xavi?even when we needed yaya the answer was no so barca should stay off and show some respect.i also believe there’re other players in their academy where fabregas came from why not bring them up and polish them or what is the essence of their academy?

DAVID: £50m is not a lot of money in the current state football is in. If Ronaldo fetched £80m why not Fab. He is better at what he does than Ronnie!!If we accept £50m for fab who do we buy with that money?
Better to take players than money, the problem is with taking the money is that everyone knows you have it to spend and the prices of other low quality shite increases. Take this summer Barry went for a reasonable £14m then Ronaldo went for £80m and the market went stupid £25m for Lescott! Benzema – stupid money, Arsenal demanding £9m for Eboue a player ridiculed by his own fans and substituted after coming on as a sub. If Fab is to go and lets face it it will happen one day, make sure we have his replacement ready,which i think between Merida, Ramsey & Wilshere we aint far off. Then demand the best package of players we can get to fill our problem positions – Goalkeeper (world class), Centre Half (cover), Defensive Mid (competition for Song)and a fit striker and may be a decent young right back, if Eboue is leaving.

xavi and iniesta will soon be declining they are growing old even they do not suit as fabregas’ replacement.
