Back from vacation what did I miss?

by David on June 7, 2010

Back from a nice vacation at the beach and looking through Arsenal news for the last week or so and everything seems pretty much where it was when I left.

Fabregas and Barcelona talks are ongoing and this saga will drag out over the summer and into July. So expect another 6-8 weeks of stories about whether he is leaving or not.

Sol Campbell is still talking to Celtic, but I expect him to be in an Arsenal shirt next season.

Other than signing Marouane Chamakh it has been all quiet on the transfer front, and I expect it will be until the World Cup is over.

Arsenal have signed Aaron Ramsey to a new long-term contract. Here is hoping that Ramsey can recover quickly from his broken leg and help Arsenal next season.

The future of Joe Cole, who is out of contract at the end of the month, is still up in the air. I have a sneaky feeling that he has already decided where he is going and hopefully that is Arsenal and not Spurs.

Anything else I missed?

Hmmm…. well Rafa might be headed to Inter.

So with Jose cleaning house at Real Madrid and maybe some players at Inter wanting out (bc of Jose’s leaving or Rafa coming in, who knows?), it would be nice if Wenger had some people on the phone lines and standing outside the Bernabeu and San Siro with the chequebook.

The bit that everyone seems to have missed is the lack of understanding of simple language.

Not for sale.

Similar to but not the same as ‘Fuck off’; ‘Go away’; or in simpler English ‘We do not want to sell our player. Leave him alone and do not talk to him or to his agent or to his maker or anyone else about him as it is unprofessional and tantamount to tapping up.’

Yet the Barsholes keep doing the ‘our player’ bit whilst the FA, UEFA anf FIFA do nothing to stop the Spanish abuse of the so called system. It is time for someone to get a new association set up to clean the mess that is currently supposed to be running football. The media should be controlled by refusal of permits to competitions whenever they speculate on football transfers. The Freedom of the Press has become the Right of Abuse.

So in reality you missed nothing new mate – just a few sunny days.
