Arteta Ruled Out For Season

Mikel Arteta has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering ankle ligament damage during Monday’s game with Wigan.

Arsene Wenger admitted after the game that he feared Arteta’s injury was “quite a serious one”. And while scans have revealed no break, ligament damage means that Arteta will need several weeks of recovery and will definitely miss Arsenal’s last four games.

Arteta’s injury causes a selection headache for Arsene Wenger ahead of this weekend’s crunch game with Chelsea.

With Arteta out, Yossi Benayoun ineligible to play and Abou Diaby struggling for match fitness it could mean that Arsenal will start with a midfield three of Song, Rosicky and Ramsey.
