Reading’s Pavel Pogrebnyak says Andrey Arshavin would be a great signing for Reading and has urged his Russian team-mate to join the Royals.
Reading’s Russian owner is reported to have targeted as many as 10 new players for when the transfer window opens as Reading are battling for their Premier League survival.
One of those players thought to be on the Reading wish list is Arshavin, who Arsenal are desperate to get his salary off the wage bill.
Pogrebnyak is urging his fellow countryman to join him at the Madejski Stadium.
“It’s Arshavin who has to make the decision,” the striker revealed. “Anton Zingarevich knows him well enough without listening to my opinion, as he is from St Petersburg.
“Andrey is a master and there is no doubt that it would be great to see him at Reading.”
Any long term reader of this blog knows that I am not a big fan of Arshavin. But I have to say that I have been really impressed with the way that he as handled being frozen out by Wenger. He never sulked and instead has played a major role in the win over QPR, the comeback against Reading and the penalty against Fulham.
Not saying that Arsenal should not move Arshavin in January, but he has probably been the most impactful sub that Arsenal have at the moment.
