Arsenal Fixtures and Champions League Games – Brutal Schedule

by David on June 17, 2010

Earlier I posted Arsenal’s 2010-2011 Premier League Schedule. It is not a matter of who Arsenal plays, but often a case of how do those games look once you lay the Champions League schedule over top of the league schedule.

When you do that, the schedule makers have not given Arsenal any breaks at all. In the group stages, following a Champions League game, Arsenal is away from home five of the next weekends following a Champions League game. That is a brutal schedule and will not make Wenger happy.

To make things worse, Arsenal play Chelsea, Man City, Aston Villa and Man United all away from home the weekend after a Champions League game. I cannot remember a team having a tougher schedule than this after Champions League games.

The schedule gets slightly easier for Arsenal as we get into the knockout stages. But if Arsenal reach the Champions League quarter-finals they will play Liverpool at home after the 2nd leg (or an FA Cup Semi-Final). And if Arsenal progress to the Champions League semi-final they will play Man United at home the weekend after the semi-final first leg.

Typical!

Last season for legend AW to finnish his project with Arsenal and we get this schedule. This means we have to choose one of the competitions, we will have no chance in hell to win both CL and PL with a schedule like this.

Only thing that can help us now is if we get an easy CL draw and Chelsea and Man Utd get a tough one, but that will never happen :-(

I think we shud stop complaining & tell Mr. Wenger to have a strong starting 11 & a strong bench that’s all. Next season is going to be tough & more competetive than last season. With kids around at arsenal we will suffer & end up like liverpool.
