Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Vows To Keep Arshavin Out Of The Side

by David on January 23, 2012

After impressing against Manchester United yesterday, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to keep his place in Arsenal’s starting line-up, which means we might see Arshavin come on for him again this season!

Speaking after the Man United match, AOC said:

“It was a nice performance from me and I’ve got to make sure I keep my place now. I was happy to get a start and obviously against opposition like Man United – it doesn’t come any better than that. I guess it does [show Wenger has faith in him] and that is a positive for me to take away, having the boss’ trust. I’ve got to make sure I repay that with my performances, working hard in training and when I’m on the pitch. Overall I was happy with my performance and happy to contribute to Robin’s goal. It was positive for me and mentally it puts you in a good position. That can always change in football though – you can have one good game and the next game is a bad one. You’ve got to deal with the highs and the lows.”

Someone else who needs to be worried about the development of Oxlade-Chamberlain is Theo Walcott. OC is a bigger, stronger version of Walcott, who appears to have a better positional sense than Walcott. When Gervinho gets back, I would not be surprised to see AOC move to the right with Gervinho on the left.

its very unfortunate arsenal is deteriorating just 4 d reason dt some players are performing below the expectation. Wenger should base is selection on who is good 2 play, nt 2 be giving chance to some lazy and inconsistent players.

Theo shouldn’t even be in the side. Neither should Arshavin, let them go and bring in quality.

I don’t know why many people keep criticising Arshavin and not Walcott. 3 goals in 21 premier league games for Walcott 19 of which are starts, even Vermaelen has a better ratio with 3 in 14 league games. I thought Arshavin would score if he started against United because he has had 2 assists in three games, and his dribbling has vastly improved in a matter of 3 starts. He himself said he needs regular starts to become better.

its vry unfair 4 arsenal fans 2 continue in their negative remark at d manager or players every tym all goes wrong in a futball match. Ashavin hs lost his form of late dat we all knw but dat isnt d problem here. Chelsea wldn’t hv blvd me if I hd sworn by my grand-mother’s grave dat Torres was going 2 b a bad buy. 10 injured players is enough escuse 4 a club as big as arsenal 2 do vry poorly. Imagin a Barc wthout just messi nd xavi in 10 matches or a madrid wthout only Ronaldo in 10 matches nd compare their performance 2 dat of arsenal’s wthout ten solid player who wld hv made vry big differences in their departments. No one wld hv blvd arsenal wth a vry poor start 2 d league wld hv been where it is now above Liverpool. Wat happened 2,’In Arsene We Trust?’

The last paragraph is perfectly in line with my thought wilcot has also lost a lot of form….! Ox is exactly the right person for replacing him…. Ox is also vary quick and I personally think he has a better control of the ball when running at pace….
